Cross wiki discrepancy

edit

@Lugnuts: I should have guessed that this wouldn't be straightforward when I volunteered to look at your list :) The reason that Beru Khyentse Rinpoche appears as dead in Chinese Wikipedia is that their article contains the birth/death dates of his first incarnation who was apparently called Karma Jamyang Khyentse Özer (1890–1946), even though the article uses the second reincarnation's name for its title. The original individual reincarnated as these two was Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, but since it transpires that Tibetan holy men can have up to five reincarnations (body, speech, mind, qualities and activity), in this case there are at least eight individuals involved ... the whole subject is a specialist one and ideally needs a Wikipedia guideline somewhere about how we handle the whole reincarnation thing.

In short, I think the Wikidata link should be deleted pending the creation of an article on Karma Jamyang Khyentse Özer. What do you think?

As an aside, it turns out that "Rinpoche" is not part of his name, it is an honorary title like "His Holiness" or similar, which means that any article in Category:Rinpoches with "ripoche" as part of the name are incorrect and should be moved, sans ripoche, according to naming conventions about not including titles with names. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 07:02, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Talk about a can of worms! Yes, I'm happy for the interwiki link to be deleted. Thanks again for your help with these. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 07:09, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
