- Agreed. We need to mention the protests in the article. SnoopyAndCharlieBrown202070 (talk) 01:25, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
I agree. I was there. there was a parade route that ran parallel to Nixons route and the crowd was huge. I marched respectfully to the rear of 5000 Vietnam Soldiers Against the war. That was the most heartbreaking thing that still makes me emotional. There was a stage where I heard John Kerry and Ron Kovic speak. It was larger than the crowd along the parade route. We noticed the news broadcasts underplayed the size of the crowd and tried to ignore it. I went with 3 others from Columbus Ohio. We were boarded the night before and the night after by a couple whose son had been killed in Vietnam. They put up 12 of us and said they belonged to a group of parents who's sons were killed in the war. I remember reading some copies of the letters they had sent to Nixon and others. They were gut-wrenching and expressed the anguish. I remember thinking how could anyone read letters like this and not do something. I will see what I can find. Since the news coverage was so bad I don't know where else to look. I'm ashamed that we (those of us that were activists) allow this to stand with not mention of the counter parade.
