Possible duplication of material already in Education in New Zealand
editSome recently added material on this page seems to cover much the same material as the section on secondary education of Education in New Zealand. The material on enrolment schemes, for example, is more detailed on the Education in New Zealand page. Maybe some careful editing is required to tidy this up. If you can see a good way to do it, please go for it!Neil Leslie 23:19, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Its time the content of this article was moved to a more appropriately named page, say Secondary education in New Zealand. Personally I would do it this way:
- Move the secondary stuff from Education in New Zealand to Secondary education in New Zealand to establish the fork.
- Take new material from New Zealand Secondary Schools and add it to the new Secondary education in New Zealand page.
- Make New Zealand Secondary Schools a redirect to Secondary education in New Zealand.
- Any comments? Mr Bluefin 11:37, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Forogt to add: Either that or renaming this page to Secondary Education in New Zealand. Secondary education in the United States is built on a similar idea. I prefer forking as I initially proposed though this second idea is not unreasonable. Mr Bluefin 07:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'd suggest re-naming this page, and merging with the content of the appropriate section of Education in New Zealand. The first section of this page, from "Secondary education" to "diploma" is not as carefully written, nor as accurate, as the similar content on the Education in New Zealand page, I think.Neil Leslie 09:51, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok---I'll (or someone else will) move the page tomorrow if noone objects; then I'll start merging info, with information from Education in New Zealand taking precedence. Mr Bluefin 10:24, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Refactored. Mr Bluefin 07:59, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
University Entrance
edit"University Entrance" is a very specific term in NZ education. You get UE if you meet the criteria described in [1] Not every student who attends University in New Zealand has UE. People with oveseas qualfications (such as CIE) may be admitted ad enumdem. See, for example, [2] Neil Leslie 03:19, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
