Secret Agent X
editThe pulp character has a similar premise to Secret Agent X-9 with someone without a name working for a shadowy organisation to fight criminals beyond the law. Who was first? The newspaper strip came out 22 Jan 1934 so could have been thought up just days before. The pulp was dated Feb 1934 but as with comics in later years, these were post dated 3-6 months so they were not on the newspaper stands one month and gone the next. I would think the pulp came first but that does not mean that the newspaper strip copied them as there has been a number of such cases of very similar things coming out, notably the TV series; The Munsters and The Addams Family, which hit the small screen just weeks apart.(178.236.117.122 (talk) 12:09, 29 January 2014 (UTC))
