Seiichirō Yamashita → Seiichiro Yamashita – According to the naming conventions, unless another most commonly used name can be established, the roman-character names used for Japanese people should be “the form personally or professionally used by the person, if available in the English/Latin alphabet (this can include the spelling appearing on their official website or official social media profile …)”.
His personal name is written as “Seiichiro” on his agency’s site, his Twitter account, and the page for his Internet radio show. – Tempjrds (talk) 01:38, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Why not, since this is a non-notable article it can be dumbed down by removing helpful pronunciation In ictu oculi (talk) 09:45, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- The correct Hepburn romanization will still be there in parentheses in the opening spentence. Using official Roman-character spellings the rest of the time, whether they use diacritics (and a few do) or not, is the rule for Japanese names. If you want it to be otherwise, you need to get the rule changed. – Tempjrds (talk) 21:09, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. Unlike names of Wikipedia article subjects whose native languages, such as Polish or Spanish, use the Latin alphabet with diacritics and / or accents, this is a name transliterated from a non-Latin alphabet and should only be depicted with diacritics if such diacritics are part of this name's standard form. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 21:20, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
