Orion

edit

This Geoffrey of Yale [1] says that Sokar is Orion. Therefore, i propose that Ptah-Sokar-Osiris means Crossing of Orion the reborn one. What that means is that Orion sets with the sun many days until it rises up reborn, the datein the middle is the cross date they then calculate and celebrate success in calculating it. This was done with Ptah as Mars, because as shown in Akkad/Sumer the planet Mars was called Damuzi when it rose up as a Leader and yet it had a tau (crossing) while dead, later named Tamuz (Tau-Damuzi). That they calculated crossings other than Ptah as Mars, is proven by the 70 days of Anubis (Canis-Sothis), dying May 8 at Memphis and rising July 17 its ptah was day 35 of 70, June 12. This ptah of Anubis is impportant because its the middle date of all latitudes; the 60 day absence of Sothis at Thebes will set 30 days before June 12 and rise 30 days after June 12. Likewise the ptah of every star determined what dates the stars rise for each city on the whole Earth.

Now will someone who does astronomy and/or math prove this to the idiots of Wikipedia before AnonMoos or another editor psycho tries to rule over this donated material. The head of the board of Wikipedia should be shamed and disgraced to even claim that Wikipedia gets better AS MORE MATERIAL IS FREELY DONATED TO EDUCATE THE WORLD. It's a lie, the editors step in like the CHURCH to rule in power.

Additional info on Sokar, especially king Unas of Sokar (Sokarra). The LXX Genesis places the death of Peleg as the same year that the Papyrus Canon places death of Unas, in year 768. And Sokar and Anubis are both gods of death. However in short Genesis this Peleg (and Unas) died in year 340 and they die before anyone else in the world dies; all previous generations are not yet old enough to die. Now THAT would be a global cause to make dozens of death gods and beleifs as to what is happening to scare us around the world with sudden short lives. Since many who read encyclopedias, have religion, perhaps some respect can be had to let them read this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elijah Michael (talkcontribs) February 9, 2007.

I agree, this should be included. 174.4.163.53 (talk) 08:03, 18 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you're referring to the details of what User:ElijahMichael says here, I can't agree. Wikipedia articles must be based on what reliable sources say; see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. ElijahMichael was doing his own original research, which Wikipedia policies don't allow into articles, based on some very unsound premises—namely, that all the mythologies in the world fit together chronologically, and all that's needed is to correlate them.
The Egyptians probably did draw connections between Sokar and Orion, given that Osiris was closely linked with both Sokar and Orion, but I don't know of sources that discuss that link. If you do, feel free to suggest them. A. Parrot (talk) 17:40, 18 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

This article has serious problems

edit

The article is confused and makes a lot of unsubstantiated assertions about Seker (Sokar) without giving the basic facts - its one of the worst I have read - I intend to delete most of it. If you object say so now.Apepch7 (talk) 16:08, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Have rewritten the article - could do with some pics if anyone has them.Apepch7 (talk) 12:31, 5 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Apepch7, the article has serious problems. Sakara means the sharp tip of a star or another structure. Sakarat means in Finnish: the sharp tips of a star or another structure, for example of a pyramid. According to genetic research, many of the pharaohs were of the Finnish maternal mitochondrial line U5b1, so the language of pharaohs may have been Finnish. For example, pyramid sounds the same as the Finnish word piiramitta, compass or a clock. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.223.94.138 (talk) 22:38, 29 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@80.223.94.138: I've seen people try to connect the ancient Egyptian language to modern Macedonian, Gaelic, Wolof, and countless others, but I've never heard that one before. Given that the word "pyramid" is not Egyptian and comes from Greek, and that the Egyptian language belongs to the Afroasiatic language family and not the Uralic language family to which Finnish belongs, I don't think your hypothesis will get very far. I advise that you read Pseudoscientific language comparison and Wikipedia:Fringe theories. A. Parrot (talk) 02:42, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not moved. Replacing a dab page needs a strong consensus that there is a single primary topic. That is not the case in this discussion. Vegaswikian (talk) 00:29, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

SekerSokarRelisted to get more input on replacing the dab page. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:33, 28 July 2011 (UTC) "Sokar" is clearly the most common name used in Egyptological sources—e.g., The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt by Richard H. Wilkinson, The Routledge Dictionary of Egyptian Gods and Goddesses by George Hart, and Gods, Rites, Rituals and Religion of Ancient Egypt by Lucia Gahlin. A. Image issue

This article has the exact same image as Osiris. They're both hawk-headed gods, but we should not be using an identical picture, but one which sources says represents the particular deity.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  03:23, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you're referring to File:Sokar-Osiris.svg, it's a depiction of Sokar and Osiris syncretized into a single deity. A. Parrot (talk) 03:29, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
