somehow i dont really belive this.
- seems legit to me. The links check out, and google gives many results. 24.71.17.50 16:56, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Nonetheless, it appears to be a tongue-in-cheek organization and the article (if not deleted for the subject's lacking notability) should mention that. Bongomatic (talk) 10:16, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Actually it happens to be a very serious organization, one for which it is quite difficult to attain the status of being asked to enter. Initiates are generally wastewater professionals who have dedicated their entire careers to the field of wastewater and who have gone above and beyond the job in order to support the organization backing the society, The Water Environment Association. The name may appear to be humorous but the honor of being an initiate is quite the opposite. Initiates very proudly wear their golden shovel at any event or meeting where there might be another professional present, for being caught without your pin by another member of the society carries consequences, playful ones, but none-the-less penalties they are! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowbees (talk • contribs) 21:48, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, this is a “good ole boy” system entirely based on who you know. Our state membership is led by a local manufacturers representative who continually blocks nominations of competing representatives. Leadership should be by lead engineers or the local EPA leadership 130.44.40.212 (talk) 15:49, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
