Identity of authors
editI found a comment apparently made by Tom Kimball (Marketing Director at Signature Books and author of Mormon Book Collecting Basics and [http://amapedia.amazon.com/view/Owning+God.+A+Short+Study+of+Mormon+Book+Collecting/id=902762 Owning God: A Short Study of Mormon Book Collecting]) asserting that David Reay was killed in a plane crash "a short time" after the book's recall from booksellers. I would like to verify this, but I can't find many sources on the authors. I did find a pilot named David Miles Reay who died in a 1991 crash. They are compared here:
Author | Pilot | |
---|---|---|
Name | David M. Reay | David Miles Reay |
Birth | Unknown. David was probably not past middle age in 1985, since he was a Seventy [1] (stake missionary), not a High Priest, who are generally older members. David's wife Vonda was born about 1936 [2] (age 49 in 1985 and 55 in 1991). | October 8, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona [3] |
Death | Between 1985 and 2001.[4] Tom Kimball asserts he died "a short time" after 1985 in a plane crash.[5] | February 17, 1991 in Cleveland, Ohio [6] in plane crash [7] |
Burial | Unknown. | Cisco, Texas [8] |
Residence | Unknown. Worked in Oakland Temple.[9] Widow was in San Leandro, Alameda County, CA (2001 [10]) (current [11]) | Oakland, Alameda County, CA (1991) [12] |
Family | Wife: Vonda Lee Skousen Reay [13][14] born about 1936.[15] | Wife: living [16] |
I'm not trying to cite primary sources for the article, I just want to confirm these published sources are talking about the right person. Hopefully this gathered information can also be used to find better sources somewhere. ——Rich jj (talk) 16:18, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Copyright question
editGiven that the book is still in copyright, is the scribd external link to a PDF of the book inappropriate? -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 15:32, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
