Talk:Senator Armstrong (Metal Gear)
Senator Armstrong (Metal Gear) has been listed as one of the Video games good articles under the good article criteria. If you can improve it further, please do so. If it no longer meets these criteria, you can reassess it. Review: March 20, 2024. (Reviewed version). |
Naming?
editI feel like the article should still be entitled Senator Armstrong (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance). Despite the lengthy disambiguation, "Senator Steven Armstrong" is not a name I've seen literally anywhere, so I'm not sure it even falls under WP:NATURAL. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 14:56, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- @ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ Went with that because of Wikidata and a few other sources, but this feels cleaner and simpler. How you feeling about it?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 15:05, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- I just feel it's odd, since the "Steven" is rather rare when talking about him. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 15:09, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah. I think it's fine to list in the article itself at least, we do it with others (i.e. Overwatch characters). Either way its shortened and disambiged to Metal Gear which should suffice.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 15:10, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Six Good Article Criteria
edit1. Prose is well written and meets guidelines.
2. No original research, everything in the article is sourced.
3. Addresses the subject from multiple angles and uses various analysis pieces of the character to do so.
4. Article does not try to express a specific viewpoint, and thus is neutral.
5. Article appears stable. No controversial edits or edit warring recently.
6. Article uses three fair-use media pieces, though all appear properly cited and have proper fair use rationale guidelines.
Prose Review
editLead
edit-Lead overall looks fine. I would cut the bit about the game being "prophetic" though, since that appears to be more about the game than the character.
Conception and design
edit-"...were of a much higher concentration, giving him enhanced strength but also acting as self-repair units and allowing him to temporarily harden his skin and muscles beyond their normal limits at will and in response to physical trauma" Bit of a run-on sentence. I would try to separate via a comma or by making it two separate sentences.
-"with the exception of his hair and insides of his mouth while his eyes would glow red." This bit feels a bit unnecessary and a minor detail overall.
-I'd change "only simply "All I knew was that my character was an amoral 'power-hungry American senator'"." to "simply stating..."
Appearances
edit-Appearances appear properly sourced and I see no problems with this section.
Promotion and reception
edit-Is there any way to source the Armstrong "leaked" audio to a secondary source? It's not a big issue that won't affect this article passing or not, but I feel it definitely would help improve that citation.
-The phrasing of "as Raiden points out to him," confuses me. Is Raiden pointing out that Armstrong expresses disdain for the weak, or that he knew nothing about them?
-I'd replace "apprehend" with "comprehend" when discussing the characters' viewpoints in the last paragraph, though this is optional since the meaning is understood either way.
Overall
editVery well-done article overall. Once the above few edits are addressed, I'll be happy to pass this article.
