editHi User:Rosguill, it looks like you recently tagged this article with the following tags: refimprove, globalize, undue weight, disputed. I just read the article and checked the sources cited (thanks to the web archive links you added), but I didn't see any obvious problems. If these tags are still needed, could you please clarify your concern(s)? Krubo (talk) 04:17, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- This article, about a region in Africa, manages to pretty much exclusively talk about the European colonization of this region. This is bad enough on its own, but it's even more egregious given that, as alluded to in the lead, the Senegambia was home to some of the largest and most significant states of precolonial Africa, the Mali Empire and the Songhai Empire. It also mentions almost nothing about the region after French decolonization, which is also an omission. This I believe explains the undue weight and globalize tags. I'm not expecting to have a GA-quality article on first draft, but the way this article fails to even mention anything other than European countries' involvement with the subject is negligent at best.
- As for the inaccuracy tag, it is somewhat unclear how Senegambia is the gateway to the Sudan, a region it is not adjacent to. At the very minimum, it requires additional context to explain how Barry arrives at this conclusion (the quote comes from a text that is quoted in a cited source, so it's non-trivial to track down). Ideally, more sources could be provided to back up this claim. Rosguilltalk 04:45, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- I have checked the article and believe that it can be greatly improved. I also believe that this article can even be longer than this as there are ample of sources about this region. However, your rationale (above) for tagging is rather questionable if you ask me. The region was colonised by the Europeans so what do you want it to say? I don't understand what you took issue with when you wrote "This is bad enough on its own" What exactly do you want it to say when it was in fact colonised by the Europeans? I just don't like it is not a good argument I'm afraid. Yes, this region had some of the most significant states and empires of precolonial Africa, some of which you've noted above. So what exactly is the problem? I notice in your rationale above you seem to take issue with that but did not tell us why before moving on to the article not saying "nothing about the region after French decolonization." If you take issue with the article not saying nothing after colonisation, please feel free to add it rather than throwing tantrums with your drive by tagging which might be considered vandalism. If you see a problem, be bold and fix it yourself instead of just talking about it. The fact that you wrote:

- ...shows that you do not understand the subject. You have confused the Republic of Sudan or South Sudan which are in North East and East Central Africa respectively with the Sudan region. The countries encompassing the Senegambia region were part of the Sudan region. See those articles for a historical context. This is why I have always maintained that there are lots of editors from the West who like to comment on African related articles but do not understand the subject other than what the biased media has feed them. Further, the "Barry" you are talking about is actually the Senegalese historian, author and scholar Professor Boubacar Barry whose work is peer-reviewed [1] and [2]. I do take issue with this article but not for the same reasons you have tagged them. I will continue to work on this article, and when I've finished I'll remove the tags. If you have any other issues after I've finished working on this article, please state them on this talk page and apply the relevant tag(s) with a good/reasonable edit summary. "I just don't like it" won't do. We don't go here by what you like or what you don't like, but by Wikipedia policies. If you are unfamiliar with our policies, I advise you to start with the 5 pillars of Wikipedia. You may find them useful.Tamsier (talk) 14:10, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
- I have improved the article as much as I can from this to this. Feel free to make any improvements. I will now remove the tags. If you take issue with anything, please refer to my above statement.Tamsier (talk) 01:21, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
- Totally agree Tamsier! Totally agree! I was just linking another article to this then I saw this. Great job for the improvement. Senegambianamestudy (talk) 00:37, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

The thing is Dadou is in France, it must be something else. It could be Dabou, but there are no references for that. --Io Herodotus (talk) 06:19, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- Your observation is correct. It is Dabou, not Dadou. I've just seen that whilst copy editing that section. The archived source made a typo but clarified itself with the name of the country in brackets "(in La Côte d’Ivoire)." I will change it.Tamsier (talk) 18:52, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
