Mistake

edit

--193.179.186.99 (talk) 16:28, 4 December 2008 (UTC) In the 1st paragraph, there's written that in SIMS secondary electrons are being produced and sorted by mass and energy. I suspect that this is a nonsense, and that "secondary ions" should replace the "secondary electrons".Reply

Conflict

edit

88.79.112.202 (talk) 12:42, 28 August 2008 (UTC) This article seems to suffer from some conflict of interest. It is written in a way like: "passenger air planes are made by Boing". There is a direct link to the commercial web site of one of the manufacturers of this class of instruments. Most of the space is consumed by reprinting an advertising users list without mentioning that competing systems (called IMS1270 / IMS1280) are installed in similar numbers. 88.79.112.202 (talk) 12:42, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I removed the table per WP:COPYVIO --Kkmurray (talk) 14:56, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
121.127.214.253 Argument from 88.79.112.202 is unclear. The article is *about* SHRIMP, why is inclusion of other systems required? To continue the analogy that would be like the Boeing website needing to have links to Airbus...

Two SHRIMPs are also present in Perth, Western Australia, at the John de Laeter Centre for Mass Spectrometry at Curtin University, and is jointly run by Curtin, the University of Western Australia, and GeoScience Western Australia, http://www.jdlcms.org/ Primarily used for Zircon analysis, but occasionally also monazite and baddelyite samples. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.169.47.49 (talk) 04:27, 26 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

121.127.214.253 Table reinstated as an updated version of original.

I added sections and removed the table. Please see WP:EMBED for guidelines on embedded lists. If you want to add the information, you should do it as prose. This will make it more readable and allow the reader to learn more about each installed instrument, the institution, specific applications, etc. --Kkmurray (talk) 16:57, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I reverted your edit to Sensitive high resolution ion microprobe. This article has a history of having too many external links (see WP:EL); a few links are OK, but not links to everyone in the field (imagine the NMR spectroscopy article if you did that!). --Kkmurray (talk) 15:23, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

How many is a few? Citrum quaerendae (talk) 04:18, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

See WP:EL YES #3 and WP:ELMAYBE #3 and #4. --Kkmurray (talk) 11:31, 5 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reorganised page

edit

A reorganised page with additional references has been uploaded. Still needs some tweaking and expansion about additional applications etc. Citrum quaerendae (talk) 03:51, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
