Talk:Sentimiento Latino

Now that the question of the album's spelling has been resolved (upper case "L"), I wonder whether the disambiguator "(Juan Diego Flórez album)" is needed. I suggest that Sentimiento Latino is sufficient. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:00, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Personally not very enthusiastic about this, Amazon.es has other albums of the same name. It is a Juan Diego Flórez album, never occurs without "Juan Diego Flórez album" in print references, and easier to people to search on the artist name than a title they may not remember. Or misspell it "Sentimento Latino as Italian. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:04, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Those search results are misleading. The single most frequent result is Flórez' album, most others using that exact name are singles, not albums. That leaves a compilation album by Nana Mouskouri and one album by the Dominican Leonardo Paniagua which is not even mentioned on his Wikipedia page. I suspect none of these will be subject of a Wikipedia article soon, and if they do, a hat note will sort them out. Note that parenthetical terms are not meant to be descriptors; they are disambiguators and should only be used when necessary. If my arguments can't convince other editors, I'm not going to push it. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:25, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi Michael, yes, I realise that. When I created this article I wasn't concerned about those albums, those other "Sentimiento Latino" will never have articles. Though I have added the Paniagua album to his page as it has apparently unreleased tracks on it. The problem is that "Sentimiento Latino" is a horrifically generic phrase, not just the Mouskouri and Paniagua albums, but also a gaudy series of Sentimiento Latino Vol 1-4 on Amazon.com, various songs. For those searching for this article on an Android or iPhone, it's a lot easier if it's titled clearly. However the infobox with the cover shows up with the search result on Android, so that's as good as the dab. Certainly if this was a pop album (and it is crossover) there'd by pressure per WP:NCM to remove the artist dab ... but with the rapid churn of generic titles for songs and albums, I agree with Barrelproof and a few other editors that artist names are helpful rather than unhelpful. Having said that WP:NCM as it stands is for removing artist names, so go ahead if you wish. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:37, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
