Shrouded in mystery

Perhaps Spy Magazine is not the ultimate origin of this phenomenon...well, okay, the application of this particular name to a phenomenon that has always existed...but it was SPY that popularized the term (at least in the U.S.) by running matched photos on a monthly basis until it had enough to publish two books of collected S-A-B's. Not surprisingly, awkward politically-charged acronyms did not translate as well to mainstream media.
