Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Sepp family (publishing). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Requested move 8 February 2019

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: consensus to move the page, but no clear consensus favoring one title or the other; erring on the side of precision, moving to Sepp publishing family at this time under WP:THREEOUTCOMES (no bias against speedy renomination). I have also fixed the links targeting Sepp family and redirected that title to Sepp (surname) for the time being, per the discussion below; the publishing family is also noted at the surname page. Sepp family (publishing)Sepp family – no title disambig required - Altenmann >talk 06:21, 8 February 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. SITH (talk) 14:20, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Per WP:PRECISE, "family" is not a very good WP:NATURALDIS when we have Sepp (surname). Would Sepp (publisher) be better? Although we prefer natural disambiguation, the publsiher was not known as "Sepp Family" (although it traded as "J.C. Sepp en Zoon" according to the article). openlibrary.org has the publisher's later name as "J.C. Sepp", so that may be possible. It's unambiguous. 94.21.238.64 (talk) 06:57, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • we do not have other articles "sepp family (something)". There are no other notable sepp families, therefore it is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC . Although if 94.21 is right that "sepp family" is not a common usage, unlike, say, noble families, then I agree with your suggestion of descriptive title of least astonishment.
P.S. if you throwing alphabet in soup, dont forget square brackets.- Altenmann >talk 16:44, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
The family, as a family, is not notable in the way that the Addams Family or Dog (family) are. Per WP:NOTGENEALOGY, the notability comes from the family business called "J.C. Sepp en Zoon", not from the family itself. (Same anon editor, new IP addr) 188.143.76.152 (talk) 21:37, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
It's not a question of whether the article is the primary topic for the title, but that of choosing the best title for the topic. 188.143.76.152 (talk) 21:50, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

surname etymology

edit

I suspect it is not the same as of the german first name Sepp (given name), or is it?- Altenmann >talk 16:48, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why would it be? The lede at Sepp (surname) gives a brief etymology of the name. 188.143.76.152 (talk) 21:44, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
did you actually read this etymology? If yes, do you really think sepp publishers were Estonians???? If so, references please. If no, which exactly etymology do you have in mind? - Altenmann >talk 03:47, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
