Old talk
editCompromat.ru is a collection of dirty laundry on Russian politicians copied from various articles in Russian yellow press. Its hardly a serious source for an encyclopedia. (Fisenko 00:31, 22 May 2005 (UTC))
- Please, feel free to revise and correct any part of this article, if you think it's full of "dirty laundry". Looks like there's not much info on Ivanov anywhere. KNewman 03:31, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
What are the primary "faults" of Ivanov?
editThere has been criticism, but it's murky on what certain people don't like about this man. Could someone indulge me and post a point by point list in response to this post?
-G
Kinda new with wiki editing. On one of the sections it states that Ivanov was appointed by Putin to the "Government Council for Nanothechnology." First of all, the spelling of Nanothechnology should be nanotechnology. The incorrect spelling of the government council also redirects to the "Russian Nanotechnology Corporation." Are these two the same?
Copyvio?
editIf it's translated, this sounds like a copyvio off the source, which is copyrighted? -- IlyaHaykinson 18:49, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
- Since when PERSONAL TRANSLATIONS are considered copyvios?? If I had copied the Russian text from this website, then it would have been a copyvio! KNewman 19:51, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
- My understanding is that translations can still be considered copyright violations in some jurisdictions, since they're merely transformative. -- IlyaHaykinson 14:12, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- OK then, I'm requesting a copyright examination. I hope I'm right. KNewman 14:25, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
TotallyDisputed
editThe article indiscriminately translates a text from Russian yellow press. the guy is painted totally black. Stated black facts require independent verification. I removed a couple of most egregious smearings, but the article remains UGLY. If the man is so bad, why Putin keeps him? `'mikka (t) 20:07, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- This is exactly why I said to other user "Please, feel free to revise and correct any part of this article, if you think it's full of "dirty laundry". I know this article should be "lighter" and more objective. There's not a single positive thing about him in the article :). KNewman 04:15, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
i tried to look up for original source on him suggesting to rename volgograd into stalingrad...its hard to find original established news saying this...one rather anti russian government site proclaims he said this...i think newsweek too...yet even radio free europe doesnt claim he stated that...where the first two got the info im not sure...yet it seems from the original sources that it was mainly letters from older veterans and such to the mayor of volgograd that requested it on account of a massive battle against the nazis there...ivanov may have had nothing to do with it or merely was playing to the veterans lobby...the scary thing i did find in this research...is that while putin and ivanov may have actually blocked the renaming..that anyways 50% of the russian population thinks favorable on stalin...the very elderly and the youth...perhaps we should actually be glad that its putin and ivanov and such that run things...and that theyr not quite so crazy to start renaming things after stalin...
- Where you got that info from?50% of russian population?Well,I can tell you, that only some old people at the age of 50+ think favorable on stalin.I'm sorry, but you are wrong. We still have a communist party among other parties called Communist Party of Russian Federation, but it doesn't play any role in politics and life of Russia. That party is supported by some old men,but besides I shall repeat - it's not even a 5% of the whole population. As to youth there is not even a 1% of those, who like stalin.Your sources of the information are biassed. Excuse my English.Sym.BiOS 17:40, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
This whole article is the kind of material that makes Wikipedia really "famous".
Photo
editI was wondering if I can replace the fair use photo that we have now with a public domain photo? User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 03:59, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
