List
editThis is currently a list of discovery protocols. Is the intent to also discuss discovery process and techniques? If it is just to reamin a list, we should consider a rename to List of discovery protocols. --Kvng (talk) 17:49, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- agree, marking as list, removing unrelated DAB term SDP. Widefox; talk 12:55, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Does DHCP really belong on this list?
editIt seems to me that DHCP is fundamentally different from most (if not all) of the other protocols on this list. Whereas DNS-SD (for example) is an extensible service that facilitates the discovery of many other services, DHCP is just a service whose clients can automatically find it. I suppose one could argue that it is also a discovery mechanism for BOOTP servers, but only because it is an extension of BOOTP. It's still not a generic discovery protocol.
