Article should be deleted
editOutside of what the person in question became known for on February 27, 2021, this article really doesn't have much reason to exist under Wikipedia's notability standards, and on that basis alone should be nominated for removal.Raebzan (talk) 05:08, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- Philneezy and Raebzan, if you think that this article should be deleted you can nominate it at Articles for deletion – it can't be deleted as a result of a discussion on this talk page. I strongly suspect, however, that the article will be kept on the grounds of Jahn being notable. Best, Wham2001 (talk) 13:28, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- I agree, incidentally, that the article is in a very poor state with screeds of unsourced text and very poor structuring. That in itself, however, is not a reason for deletion if Jahn himself is notable. Wham2001 (talk) 13:31, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Respectfully, this person doesn’t meet the standards for notability. He’s not a standout member of the team, and outside of that membership, he’s not a notable person at all.
Moreover, the article reads as a badly-written piece of self-promotion that’s likely written by the subject. At the least, it should be extensively edited to keep with standards. Rnyr (talk) 17:19, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- Rnyr, If you don't think he's notable, please list the article at Articles for Deletion. I absolutely agree that it's badly-written and promotional, and in need of better sourcing and considerable shortening; please go ahead... Wham2001 (talk) 18:16, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Removed ratings
editAfter checking the talk page history, this article was never rated. The templates were copy-pasted by the article's creator. There had also been serious degradation to the quality of the article since it's creation. Pirmas697 (talk) 18:31, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
Feb 2021 Rewrites
editI have tried my best to update the article in a encyclopedic manner that includes Jahn's past service in the US military, his injuries, his time with the USPNT, and the recent controversies. The article was very hard to parse out as it had clearly been edited over time to be less unbiased and much more of a fluff piece. I ask that my changes be considered in good faith but welcome suggestions for further improvement. While I understand where the calls to delete the article all together come from, I do think that as a paralympian and member of US Soccer, Jahn meets notability as defined by Project Football.
