Sha`b Abu Nuhas → Sha'ab Abu Nuhâs reef
- — I believe this is a better translation of the Arabic, it is used in the book Andrea Ghiotti, ed. (1996). Diving Guide to the Red Sea Wrecks. Luxor: A A Gaddis & Sons., which presumably gives the local English useage of the name. Posting this as a potentially controversial move to allow discussion. Mjroots (talk) 09:24, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- That would be tautology: Arabic sha`b means "reef". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:37, 7 September 2010 (UTC)]
- OK, would be happy with Sha'ab Abu Nuhâs if that is a better title. I'm Ar-0 so am happy to be guided by others over this. Mjroots (talk) 10:18, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Re "Sha'ab", there is no second 'a' in the Arabic word: it is "shaعb". the second 'a' arose by Europeans misinterpreting the Arabic ayin sound. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 15:39, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Prefer a move to Abu Nuhas per a majority of Ghits (I can't believe I'm saying this). If not, support a move to Sha'ab Abu Nuhas (no diacritics, no "reef") per second most common result. And get some references for the article. — AjaxSmack 02:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- The non-diacritic title can be a redirect to the diacritic title. Mjroots (talk) 18:09, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- But why bother? The diacritic form follows neither the standard nor strict transliteration prescribed by WP:MOSAR and it does not appear to be the most common usage. Just put the articles at the non-diacritic from and reverse the redirect. — AjaxSmack 22:10, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
