Hong Kong or Ho-Ho-Kus New Jersey, a high school is a high school. Why is this in an encyclopedia?--Wetman 08:30, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
So by that token articles on Columbine, the United World Colleges, UK public schools (eg Eton) etc would also be removed, no?
Re: Raffle Tickets
editI didn't know it turned out to be a scandal. I fell foul of the school for not selling any back in early 1990. As a old student, I still remember being summoned to the principal's office over it. When did it become discontinued?
Smrgeog
I"m not really sure when it became discontinued since i'm a pretty recent student, well in Yr9 to be precise but i have seen a few of my form not selling any tickets and just getting encouragement from my Form tutor. No one makes a big fuss of it nowadays. In fact with so many students the Mr. Cottam probably doesn't have the time to see them all.Stinkypie (talk) 11:51, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
House mascots
editAre there house mascots? if there are i don't know of them... I think they are unofficial so I won't put them on the page.Typhoonchaser 12:34, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
ERm there ARE house mascots but i'm not sure if those are rite..
Typhoonchaser who are you? What year? I assure you the information I uploaded was true. I've been working in this school for 6 years. Stop vandalising the updates. The principal may have tried to cover up these events, but I want them heard out.
Sorry, 210.87.251.111. I never knew you worked at SC. I'm a Yr 9 student, who are you?
Typhoonchaser, there are house mascots, but they change sometimes, so, generally speaking, they're unofficial. Last time i heard, they were: Armstrong: Spongebob Squarepants; Drake: Stitch (from "Lilo and Stitch"); Hillary: [erm, i'm not that sure...]; Kingsley: [don't know either]; Scott: [argh, god, pass...]; Tasman: Tigger (from "Winnie-the-Pooh")...
Mainly, they're not really refered to, but we are encouraged to bring any toys of the mascots for Swimming Gala and Sports Day to wave them around and stuff... By the way, I'm in 8T...you? 220.246.151.251 13:23, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Chipmunk
- By the way, what on earth are the house mascots you're talking about? Insanephantom 13:39, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm guessing house mascots aren't too popular over our Year 10 group... typhoonchaser 15:42, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Gah, just forget about the unofficial mascots. They're honestly not worth putting on a public encyclopedia, right? - Arbiter the Grunt Fanatic —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arbiterthegruntfanatic (talk • contribs) 10:28, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Well there definitely are mascots (least de facto) and i'm pretty sure about the Armstrong one being spongebob and the tasman one being tigger. I don't know about stitch and something tells me that the Kingsley one is Barney. Stinkypie (talk) 11:51, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Theft
editShould this section be in the article? I feel that User:Slf67 definitely had reason to revert and remove the section, but there is theft going on in Sha Tin College as Mr Cottam stated, just not as serious as the anonymous user said. Any thoughts? typhoonchaser 09:05, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree that the section should be in the article, even though it may be useful, since it may give a bad impression to the school. I think that's why it was deleted. Insanephantom 09:21, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Bad impression? I think that's what we're trying to avoid saying, giving bad impressions... If there is theft going on, then why not say out the truth? It was deleted because it was seen as vandalism, inserting false information, I think. More input welcome. typhoonchaser 09:34, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, since it is not something minor involving the police, you could, but maybe not in the way the other person wrote it. Insanephantom 14:11, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

JUNE 2007
editi look at this site and i look at KGV's site and it's so disappointing.
how bout redoing the site altogheter?
organise it into a real page, cut that house crapinto one section. State the Aims of Sha Tin COllege, talk more about the location and the demographics of students etc, talk about school culture like Houses, house cup, swimming gala, CAS week, destinations for studetns after leaving year 13 etc.
- Hello 124.187.169.128, how do you suggest we could improve the article? Give some specific suggestions and even be bold and add it on yourself! It's really not hard. But I appreciate that you wanted to achieve community consensus first, it's a good thing...
- I agree though, I can't believe we missed out CAS Week altogether! -- typhoonchaser 05:35, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think this article really should not be given a B class. Sure it's not bad but you are really missing some critical info. If you want specific's this will slap you in the face. There isn't even talk about which colours correspond to which house, that is probably the worst flaw in this article. Other stuff that i would mind being added would include things like form periods. Also you might like to even say what the divisions of middle school, senior school and lower school are? Oh and this is definitely original research but i'd like to include it. You know that bit about wiki? Most teachers don't really care. But those library staff (yes you Mrs. Garner) are strong advocates of no wiki. In my ict room there is even a no wiki sign. I should upload one of those one day. Apparently there isn't any ban on the firewall but there is definitely an admin who banned all of the school IPs from editing. I can't remember who it was though. I'll check one day. And please. Don't revert my edits for original research.Stinkypie (talk) 11:51, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Logo
editI was uh, fiddling around with Photoshop and I cropped the logo and turned it into a PNG. It would be nice if someone could refine it a little more (the bottom looks a bit weird) or crop the newer logo on the school website! --typhoonchaser 10:23, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
"Foreign" and "Local"
edit"Sha Tin College accepts students from an academic perspective, mainly students already fluent in English. Though the school accepts foreign students over local ones, the student population and demographics are predominantly Asian – notably middle class Hong Kongers carrying dual citizenship – when compared with other international schools."
This statement does not correctly reflect the school's admissions policies, because the terms "foreign" and "local" are not sufficiently clear: does "foreign" denote foreign passport holders? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.123.176.166 (talk) 02:41, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps we could remove that bit for now, pending further clarification/research? I'm guessing "foreign" would mean "westerners" in Hong Kong speech, but I'm Chinese and I hold a foreign passport, so I'm not so sure... --typhoonchaser 02:46, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Theoretically the school makes no discrimination about any types of people. However it does seem true that there are more asians (especially ethnic chinese) than any other group. I think that the statement about there being dual citizenships quite true although this probably will never be verifiable. I for one thing hold a British passport and a Hong Kong ID card. I'm not too sure but from my personal experiences the most common secondary citizenship is Canadian, American and British.Stinkypie (talk) 12:40, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Proposed AfD
editThe article has no sources linking to anything other than the Sha Tin College and ESF websites, the school and parent organisations respectively. There is insignificant non-trivial coverage of this topic in secondary and third-party sources. not meeting WP:N. Furthermore, the article reads like an advertisement. 220.246.180.6 (talk) 16:12, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
