The PROD concern was stated as "Lacks reliable third party sources created in 2006 Fails WP:GNG and WP:NAUTHOR.Now there are thousands of authors in Bangladesh not clear how the subject is notable further it is a unsourced BLP as far as I can see.."
A second editor endorsed the PROD, saying "There's a brief entry on him in Who's who in Bangladesh: Art, Culture, Literature, 1901-1991. But other sources mention his name only in a list of 10-20 Bengali short story writers / novelists active at one time. For example, the encyclopedia Banglapedia.[1][2] As no more information is available, Wikipedia should mention him only in passing too."
It seems that the second editor meant that no more information was available online (unless they have access to a Bangladeshi-language library, but they do not mention that). Even online, it is not true that there is no more information available. I have added two pieces of information, with references - an award in 1978, and a novel adapted into a televised play in 2008. I am unable to see the entry in the Who's who in Bangladesh: Art, Culture, Literature, 1901-1991. - all I can see in the snippet view online is his name, presumably above the entry about him. The entry may be brief, but without seeing it, we can't know if it mentions significant recognition or not.
I have attempted to search online by the name in Bengali script (শহীদ আখন্দ). Most of the results are in snippet view. One [3] is a History of Bengali Literature, Volume 3, and appears to have information about him over 2 pages. Without being able to read Bengali, I can't tell what it says. The text shown in the Google search results is the index page, not the actual entry, so I can't copy and paste the entry into Google Translate. There is also a book which is a Study of the representation of middleclass people in Bengali novels from Bangladesh, 1947-1970. [4]. Shahid Akhand's name appears on 9 pages of this study, though again, the Google search results text shows the index, and without being able to read Bengali, I can't translate the snippet views of the book.
There are other Bengali language results too. I think it is likely that the subject does meet either WP:GNG or WP:NAUTHOR - at the very least, this article should be taken to AfD. RebeccaGreen (talk) 00:34, 2 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
