Merger
editI feel that the article Mystic Lake Casino should be merged with Shakopee-Mdewakanton Indian Reservation as their is very little information pertaining to the casino and therefore, I do not feel that it is substantial enough to stand alone. T. White 09:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Theoretically they could each stand on their own, but in their current state I support a merge. -Ravedave (help name my baby) 15:55, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
More Content
editThere is a long and tortured history associated with this reservation and I'm surprised it hasn't been included here. Maybe someone could get on the stick and write it up - even a brief article could reveal a great deal about the history of the reservation itself and the people who populate it.Spottacus 18:06, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- I Agree, go ahead and write it.69.95.237.183 (talk) 21:11, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
The name of the hotel/casino?
editCould someone verify that the Mystic Lake name of the casino and hotel is named after the man-made lake? Here I thought it was a translation of Mde Wakan, which is the name of Mille Lacs Lake in the Dakota language, to which the Mdewakantonwan are named after, and which the Shakopee-Mdewakanton Sioux Community is one of its successors. My understanding is that the band is indeed named for Mille Lacs, which in Dakota is either "Spirit Lake" or "Mystic Lake." I had initially thought that Mystic Lake was their name for Prior Lake, which is near the rez, but I have been corrected by one who claims to have authoritative knowledge.Spottacus 21:50, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Mdewakanton.gif
editImage:Mdewakanton.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge proposal
editJust stumbled upon the stub named Sioux Tribe of Minnesota, which apparently refers to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. The name "Sioux Tribe of Minnesota" is not the current name of the tribe, and the piece is a unreferenced stub, so it seems logical to merge into this better-named, better-developed article. -Uyvsdi (talk) 22:43, 29 December 2013 (UTC)Uyvsdi
