Naming Family
editI wonder, are there any thoughts on naming the (non-famous) living family of people on Wikipedia? Shane's brothers and sisters are named here, and I'm just wondering about the personal issues involved? Any thoughts anyone? --The.Q | Talk 15:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Redirect
editWould Ironholds care to explain why this article fails WP:MUSIC? Johnhousefriday (talk) 14:32, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- "members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases." - I don't see any independent notability other than writing a few songs for other musicians, which isn't sufficient. Ironholds (talk) 15:18, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- From Wikipedia:Notability: If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article. A simple Google search finds 105,000 results and 22,300 images. "Shane Filan wedding" finds 7,210 results and 5,200 images. There are numerous fansites about him. He is a person widely-known and of great interest to the public, and his life is followed and reported in the press. He is clearly an appropriate subject for a stand-alone article in an encyclopaedia. Johnhousefriday (talk) 16:16, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Shane Filan is deserving of his own article. He receives wide media coverage, and is known to huge numbers of people around the world. Recent articles on him include his Michael Jackson obsession as a child and commenting on the death of Stephen Gately, both focusing on him individually. If nothing else, the number of people arriving at this article and finding it doesn't exist shows there is entirely justified interest in the lead singer of the one of the world's most successful current boy bands. Let's not be silly about this. Johnhousefriday (talk) 21:58, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Silly? Silly would be arguing for the inclusion of an article because of the number of John Smiths who want it. If you can write an article that passes WP:BIO and WP:MUSIC, do so. Ironholds (talk) 03:50, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
