Java
editThe comment "In Candi of Indonesia, Shell script or sankhalipi show the relationship of the transmission of Tantra, Vajrayana and Ganachakra to Java." Has no source given. It can be put back when we have some footnotes and sourcesZippymarmalade (talk) 12:45, 30 April 2016 (UTC) added.
I have seen R. K. Sharma, ed., Studies in Shell Script (Delhi, 1990). The decipherment by Mukharjee is quite convincing. Numerous examples are given from various sites, with both photos and readings.Malaiya (talk) 01:11, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Most examples of Shankh Lipi are ornate versions of Gupta period Brahmi, and occur in the vicinity of Gupta period sites.Malaiya (talk) 01:17, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Prof. B.N. Mukherjee's approach
editProf. B.N. Mukherjee's approach is simple, intuitive and completely convincing. A large number of readings are given in R. K. Sharma, ed., Studies in Shell Script.
Comment on "A further study of the script appeared in 1990 without, however, advancing its decipherment. I cannot agree. The decipherment is complete, and there is noting else that remains unsolved.
I asked Richard Salomon if he still rejects Mukherjee's approach. He did not defend his earlier rejection. Malaiya (talk) 22:08, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Ornamental scripts
editThe ornamental version of Arabic, termed Thuluth, originating in 11th century, incorporates similar features of
- ornamental flourishes and
- overlapping letters.
The similarity in approach is quite striking. Malaiya (talk) 22:13, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
