NHL alumni
editI just deleted out a lot of players ... some who played for a senior league team of the same name in the Fifties, some who never played in Shawnigan at all, some who never played in the NHL and some who I can't even verify existed. Whoever put the list together either copied it from another source without checking or did some very sloppy work. Ravenswing 09:05, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Team history
editI as well took out some things, such as the line that said Snoop Dogg wore a Shawinigan Cataractes jersey in his video for 'Gin and Juice". The jersey is that of the old Springfield Indians (now the Springfield Falcons) of the AHL. I can see how someone who didn't know hockey could get mixed up as the Springfield jersey has a similar color scheme, and their logo features an S with a similar logo to the Cataractes' in the center.
I also added that the arena opening has been pushed to 08'09, I learned this from team personnel as I talked to them while they were here in St. John's, as well as fixed a minor spelling error. I agree with the above poster that this is a sloppy job. Byebyebettman 19:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Shawinigancataractes.gif

Team logo/image
editIt would be interesting to know why the team uses the image of a First Nations warrior as their logo. It seems to be unrelated to any of their team names (Bruins, Dynamo, Cataractes). It's a really striking and impressive image, but I don't understand how it's connected. PKT(alk) 21:24, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- The team has used a First Nations theme since 1998. Prior logos were geometric in nature. I suggest searching in newspapers circa 1998 for a rationale. Flibirigit (talk) 18:19, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
