- Added one diagram, the same that I added to Solid of revolution. Is this enough or should there be one with emphasis on the "thin cylinder" concept? --Petteri Aimonen (talk) 19:59, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think this article needs a thorough clean-up (not quite sure how to request that formally). In particular, the main paragraph could do with being changed do p(x), h(x) etc. rather than p(y), h(y) and "length" being changed to "height" - it is a particularly confusing article as it is. If I could make diagrams, I'd try to make a better one.
- Of course, the main problem is that shell integration is a cheap and over-simplified way of doing volume integrals, so no one who edits maths on Wikipedia is likely to ever check it... anyways, if nothing happens within a few days I'll try to sort it out myself. --Duke (talk) 03:24, 26th May 2010 (UTC)
- I added a few pictures to help explain an example and replaced the old one. I've put a pin in the idea of remaking the picture at the top to match the caption I gave it. Removing the reqdiagram --Blacklemon67 (talk) 00:05, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Software?
editWhat is software shell integration? Esn (talk) 03:20, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I believe that is when a program integrates its commands into the OS, for example:Winrar uses it to let you right-click a file and choose to compress it from the drop-down meun. 96.241.159.144 (talk) 19:54, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Don't bite
editI know this is not the place to ask but can someone please explain to me / direct me / help me understand how the volume equation is derived. I understood the limits a to b, but what about the integrand? Why is it x f(x). Why is there an x? Thank you very much in advance. 50.75.164.82 (talk) 03:31, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Who invented this?
editIs there a particular mathematician that thought this up? --Fdsafdsa132 (talk) 11:56, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
Added a collapsable with a derivation of the formula
editWhat do yall think about it? I think its pretty useful since it gives a justification for any reader who's consulting the page as of why and how the formula came to be, which is very important for a site whose one of his principal purposes is making information available It is I!
