I think the notion of the costs is useless, since it doesn't tell how high the costs were with the modern value of money. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.80.99.38 (talk) 20:19, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's hard to supply a precise equivalent value for £40 in 1850 - various places on the internet suggest £5000 or £12000. At least the cost overruns can be seen clearly... :) Cormullion (talk) 15:54, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
