Archive

edit

When archived July 2013 there were 17 sections, earliest 2005 and not in sequence, with a couple of 2013 comments but no new section since April 2012. --P64 (talk) 21:40, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

more info re "banning"

edit

should add more info to clarify that nobody really objected to alexie's books per se. As Read Banned Books (http://www.politics-prose.com/book-notes/read-banned-books-lone-ranger-and-tonto-fistfight-heaven-sherman-alexie) it was just swept up with everything else they didn't want taught anymore. Bibliography

edit

I have added a Bibliography section using cite templates and tables for short stories, poems and/or book reviews. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. Feel free to continue. Sunwin1960 (talk) 04:03, 12 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Specific enrollment isn't clear

edit

Which nation or nations is Sherman Alexie enrolled with? The article makes no mention of it. I thought he was enrolled with the Spokane Tribe. The article only said that his father "was a member of the Coeur d'Alene tribe, and his mother, Lillian Agnes Cox, was of Colville, Choctaw, Spokane and European American ancestry." I changed it to say "Coeur d'Alene father and Spokane mother" after finding another source. It is my impression that he belongs to his mother's Spokane Tribe, but better sources are needed. His official Instagram says "Enrolled member of the Spokane Tribe of Indians". I don't think that's a usable source though. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 09:11, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's the Spokane Tribe of the Spokane Reservation. I provided citations for him and his wife. Their identities are uncontested. Yuchitown (talk) 19:27, 10 August 2023 (UTC)YuchitownReply
Thank you. I didn't think Alexie wasn't enrolled. Just trying to clarify the exact enrollment for people who are clearly Native and have ancestry from multiple nations. That ancestry can be listed as descent. There are many articles for Native Americans that don't specify, but ideally should. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 21:11, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
