Fashion Square

edit

I've moved the claim

It was also being outgrossed by the smaller, but busier, Westfield Fashion Square (formerly Sherman Oaks Fashion Square), located about two miles away.[citation needed]

here for discussion. I couldn't find any RS establishing this claim. You can help, by locating a reliable source. --Lexein (talk) 06:43, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Used, or not, for Back To The Future 2?

edit

In this edit summary, an IP editor states:

"Use in films: It must be mis-information. BTTF2 was never filmed there and the author doesn't list what."

I've provisionally reverted the deletion, as we rely on sources (even if they're wrong) until we find multiple countervailing sources, or a more authoritative one. We know that Puente Hills Mall was used, but does that necessarily mean the Galleria was definitely not? You can help, by seeking good sources about films in which the Galleria was used. --Lexein (talk) 23:51, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mention in American Cinematographer

edit

This search when manipulated, allows the assembly of this:

  • American Cinematographer, Volume 67, Issues 1-6 American Society of Cinematographers, ASC Holding Corp., 1986 - Performing Arts, pg 78
"Our first real test was held in front of the producer and director on a Saturday morning after we'd worked all night to get it ready. It's the worst feeling in the world to test things in front of an audience. "Once the late nights at the Marina Del Rey shop were complete, the robots were transported to the Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Galleria, where most of the principal photography was to take place. We never had time to practice with the robots before moving them to the location We literally learned how to operate them while we were shooting "The galleria is the best possible location for shooting low budget." explained director of photography Tom Richmond. "I got a good feel for shopping malls when I was shooting second unit for Night of the Comet. We tried to enhance the environment and work with what was already there, instead ot LTM"

Mainly about Chopping Mall, since it has robots, but he shot 2nd Unit for Comet - at the Galleria ????. --Lexein (talk) 07:10, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

In Walk Like a Man 1987?

edit

In Walk Like a Man (1987 film), the stairs and roof shot at 0:55:27 looks like S.O.G., at 0:56:45 in the background is a Florsheim Galleria store, and at 1:00:36 behind the info booth attendant, a sign reads "Sherman Oaks Galleria". It's not listed in the credits. So, we know it was shot there, but nobody has ever admitted it in a reliable source. --Lexein (talk) 13:14, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edit requested

edit

Someone over on the helpdesk requested the following update to this page. Perhaps someone watching this page can track down a source for this requested edit:

It states that the sole remaining area of the old Galleria is the arclight/pacific theater. That is incorrect. There are several areas of the old galleria that still remain, however, the entire building that the theater resides in was demolished during re-development in 1999-2002 and constructed a new. I know this because I was one of the engineers on site from 1997 to the present and was intimately involved in the demolition/construction project that your article refers to.

Terminator 2

edit

In Terminator 2 (film) the interiors were shot at the Galleria, but the exteriors (parking lot and street chase immediately following) were shot at the Northridge Fashion Center. TravellerDMT-07 (talk) 04:45, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Innerspace

edit

The scene where the submersible is injected into Martin Short's character in Innerspace (film) was not shot at the Galleria, but on the second floor of the atrium (I think the one in front of the Broadway) at Northridge Fashion Center. It's more easily recognized from the shot where Robert Picardo's "Cowboy" character spitefully pops the unnamed performer's balloon.
