deleting a redirect of page to NIELDS
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
A search for this article defaults to "Nields" as a common surname does not allow direct access to Sheryl Nields (photographer) article. The redirect page makes it unreasonably difficult for users to locate it. I cannot find the key to fix this - and would greatly appreciate understanding this routing and how to delete it.Marcomgirl (talk) 02:11, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- A search for "Sheryl Nields" (without the "(photographer)") already redirects straight to this article. Since there are other people listed on Wikipedia who share the surname "Nields", a disambiguation page is necessary for Nields (surname), and since the term "Nields" can refer to things other than the surname (such as the USS Nields) a disambiguation page for that term is also appropriate.
- There's a pretty good case for moving this page to Sheryl Nields over the redirect, since there aren't any other people on Wikipedia with that exact name, but with regards to redirecting Nields here - no, that's not going to happen. Yunshui 雲水 10:13, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
Unsourced content removed
editThe article contained the text:
"In 2005, Nields was honored by The International Photography Awards (IPA) with a Lucie Award, winning Fashion Layout of the Year[1] with her photography in Angeleno Magazine of Scarlett Johansson."
References
- ^ "2005 Lucie Awards". Lucie Foundation.
However the cited source, https://www.lucies.org/2005-lucie-awards/ not only did not list Nields as the winner, it listed someone else, and did not mention Nields among the nominees, or indeed anywhere. I have accordingly removed it. Please do not replace it unless a very reliable source indeed supports it, given that the official site of the award does not. Unsourced content challenged
editThe article now contains the text:
"Sheryl Nields donated her time and work for 4 Inches, a coffee table book of photographs by female photographers of female cultural figures only wearing Cartier jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her photograph is of Carmen Electra. "4 Inches" refers to the height of the high-heel shoes worn by the models.[1]"

but the cited source, http://articles.chicagotribune.com/keyword/elton-john-aids-foundation and the apparent intended target, http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2005-06-15/news/0506150303_1_kimora-lee-simmons-elton-john-aids-foundation-beauties do not support this statement, not mention Nields at all, althoguh they do not contradict the statement. I challenge this statement and will remove it if a proper source is not added after a reasonable time. By the way, do not cite searches but actual articles, please. - A source that supports the article text correctly ahs been provided. Challenge withdrawn. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 00:23, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
The article now contains the text:
"...was a precursor to her technique of using the photoshoot set simply as a starting point to capture portrait and fashion images from unique angles incorporating untraditional lighting elements.[1]"

- The statement is still there, and the cited source still does not support it, does not even mention anything of the sort. Now that the AfD discussion has been closed, this should be fixed promptly or removed. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 00:29, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
Awards
editJustlettersandnumbers has removed the awards section and two awards with the misleading and incorrect edit comment - "these are graphic design awards for magazine pages; she is one of several people who contributed to a 232nd-place merit mention – why is that worth mentioning here", here they are:
− *2011 Design Award: Phototgraphy Entire Issue - Silver (shared)[1]
− *2012 Design Award: Celebrity Profile/ Single Spread - merit[2]
the 1st award above is a shared award that, the 2nd is not, both include her photography, neither of them are "232nd place", one of them appears as number 232 in the publication it is not a rating place, thats like saying a book that is 1 of 3 that receives an honor award is 2nd, 3rd or 4th depending on where it appears on the list, it is not. Whether these awards are suitable for inclusion in the article i will leave it for others to decide. Coolabahapple (talk) 17:15, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
