This article is very brief, and it does not seem to cover all of the aspects that are associated with the shielding effect. It would be helpful to have information on the effects that the electron shielding has on the periodic trends such as atomic radii and ionization energy. The citations seem to be for the overall article and not the specific facts.

I agree that the article was short and not fully covering everything that it needed to. Additionally, there are specific things which should have been referenced within the article (such as the equation) which were not listed with an appropriate link to the original source, instead only providing references for the article as a whole. There is quite a bit more that could be added with a bit more research. --Jellybean913 (talk) 17:14, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Apologies
editDon't quite know what came over me, the grammar on the last edit was horrible. Won't happen again. :-/ James S 15:29, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Work Needed
editThe article's interpretation of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle (which I removed) was not accurate, which would lead me to believe that other parts of the article are inaccurate as well. Facts and aspects of the article need to be backed up with specific citations, not just a single citation for the whole page. Also, the flow of the article has no apparent order or logic to it; a rewrite might be in order. Cmw4117 14:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Indeed here the whole introduction doesn't make any sense. How could a kinetic energy be negative?? This page is entirely to be rewritten following some good textbook in atomic physics. Nicola.Manini (talk) 13:29, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
Difference between this and "screening effect" - merge?
editWhat is the difference between this and "screening effect", and hould the articles be merged? Is it that this article is more concerned with the effect at the (single) atom level, while "screening effect" refers more to the the effect at the molecular/material level, as in the role of the effect in floating gate transistors?
