In the first line it is only mentioning where it originated. So, since, the drink was invented in pre partition times wouldn't it be illogical to name it Pakistani drink or Pakistani and Indian Drink. If we go by this logic it will be unfair to not name Bangladesh here. To avoid such confusion and keep reality of the times in mind, to me it seems terming it that it originated in northern India is Correct.
