There's something not quite right with this entry. On one level, it feels totally unnecessary (from a Wikipedia point of view), and the prose of the first paragraph leaves a lot to be desired. Does the praise for his work on Cowboy Bebop extend across his other directorial efforts? Is the blend of musical styles he uses in Cowboy Bebop applicable to his other works? I'd cut it down, but would need to find out more about the man (aside from having simply watched "cowboy bebop"). Lenny-au
I agree entirely. I think this entry needs to be expanded. While Cowboy Bebop may be immensely popular at present, the truth is that Watanabe has done good work on other great Anime, such as Macross Plus, and this entry should not focus entirely on Bebop. Lord Shitzu 23:47, May 23, 2004 (UTC)
I wouldn't say its "totally unnecessary" for this article to exist...this guy is world-famous. Updated the opening to include Macross but really he doesn't have that much work (check imdb). Bubbachuck 05:06, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
- Did a bit of cleanup. The cultural impact of Bebop has been pretty big. This guy deserves an article. - mako 08:01, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
- This article...is full of fan bullshit. The comments on the Cowboy bebop stylistic traits are just laughable. Just a thought.
The line about amalgam is cute, but taken out of context, as the full line is "my modus operandi is amalgam, steel packed tight in micro." There's a pause, but it's part of the rapper's flow so the statement should be taken as a whole. I'd like to see a graceful way to keep the cleverness while disclosing the full substance of the line. - mako 30 June 2005 00:36 (UTC)
- "My modus operandi is amalgam, steep packed tight in microchip on my armor a sign of all pro ..." (from memory). Exactly how long do you want to extend this lyric for anyway? There aren't really logical sentence breaks in the lyrics. --Cyde Weys talkcontribs 03:30, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Basically, I don't think it's good style to take something out of context. Also, tying Watanabe's artistic style to this rap lyric is something of a stretch; it's not the sort of writing that belongs in an encyclopedia. - mako 21:24, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm going to delete this thing about the line from "Battlecry," as it has nothing to do with...anything. First off, the artists centered around Nujabes have nothing to do with Watanabe. Secondly, "My modus operandi is amalgum...tiny steel packed microchip..." or whatever the line is, has no reference to anything either. It's either abstract blundering, or a something about computer chips made of a metal used in dental work. After all, what does amalgam have to do with Watanabe? --Secretwanderer 22:21, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
I just did alot of cleanups and edits. Right now the only thing that still really bothers me is the stylistic trademarks section, I think we need to elaborate/cleanup. The music section is fine, but the "eye" text seems to be off. Laughing Man 21:15, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I made an attempt on cleaning up the stylistic trademarks section, and started on the 'eye' section but I felt like it didnt work, and was too abstract to be on a biography page. Perhaps better that this information is in actual article pages or maybe someone else can clean it up and put it back? I did work on cleanup on music section wording as well. template
is it really neccessary for this in the article? there's not much substance to the article, and the navigation template just seems like a little too much since the article already has everything easily accessible? Laughing Man 02:22, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- Re-added the template as someone has since updated it. // Laughing Man 17:50, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Many works missing
Many of his greatest works are missing, because I'm almost sure I've seen his name pop up in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, as well as many others. This needs to be developed some.
