Birthdate and age

edit

Hey! Maybe there's some template talk where I could bring this up, or maybe here's best. In the infobox, next to birthdate, we have her date of birth followed by (age 79). Now, to me, that looks like a vandal 'hilariously' suggesting she was born at age 79, but clearly it's just because someone has used a {{birthdate and age| }} template. I don't know if it would be better to remove the template, leaving just the birthdate, or find some template talk to change the template to give (current age 79). Thoughts? It wasn't a vandal, it's how they all appear, and it's that she is currently aged 79. I don't think it's a problem. --Majorly (talk) 13:00, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh well I removed the age bit anyway. --Majorly (talk) 13:01, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I wasn't saying that it was vandalism, nor that it showed anything other than her current age, but that the way it was presented made it look like vandalism. :-) Skittle 13:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kirkus Reviews has covered many Hughes books including her second Greenaway Medal winner:
"ELLA'S BIG CHANCE: A Jazz-Age Cinderella by Shirley Hughes". Kirkus Reviews 1 October 2004. —48-page picture book (ages 4-8)

There seems to be no review of Dogger but here is one of a book in the same genre by daughter Clara Vuillamy, featuring a little girl and her stuffed toy penguin.
"ELLEN AND PENGUIN by Clara Vulliamy". Kirkus Reviews 1 July 1993. —32-page picture book (ages 3-7)

English/British

edit

Category:British illustrators is a parent of Category:English illustrators. I deleted the former because we give other English categories and call her English in lead sentence text (where I changed the target from England to English people). Whether she considers herself English is another matter. See WP:UKNATIONALS for a lot about that. --P64 (talk) 02:56, 3 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cheshire/Merseyside

edit
second of two new sections posted at once

Birthplace doesn't belong in the lead parentheses and I relegated it to Early life. We have provided simple links West Kirby, Cheshire in the text and Born: West Kirby, Merseyside in template {{infobox writer}}. Those two should not conflict. If I understand correctly, West Kirby was in Cheshire when Hughes was born and raised there (1927 ff); is in Merseyside today (since 1972). Right? I resolved this using judgment that I consider good but without benefit of experience, nor of reading any pertinent Manual, guideline, or discussion. --P64 (talk) 02:56, 3 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
