Maddock's son got in touch with me via Twitter and advised that the photo on the article is, unfortunately, not his mother. He thinks the original has been miscaptioned and has contacted Auckland Libraries to ask that they correct the error. There's a photo of her in this NZ Herald article which seems to demonstrate this.
