Talk:Shofetim (parashah)

Introduction

edit

The reading of any Parsha doesn't depend on whether you are in the Diaspora or in Israel. Parshat Shoftim is read, everywhere, on the first Shabbat in the month of Elul. Hence it makes no sense to write about "Jews in the Diaspora". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.201.37.131 (talk) 18:02, 2 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough; I've deleted the reference to "in the Diaspora." I put that reference to the Diaspora in this series of articles because some readings do differ between the Land of Israel and the Diaspora, due to the celebration of one day of a Festival in Israel and two days in the Disapora, sometimes kicking a Diaspora reading to a week later. But here it does not, and so I've deleted the Diaspora reference. Thanks. -- Dauster (talk) 10:29, 5 September 2011 (UTC) 10:28, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The current WP article doesn't provide links to the specific articles dedicated to the single chapters of the Book of Deuteronomy. They can be indicated as a main int the section titled "In inner-biblical interpretation". Otherwise, it can be sayed in the text that the encyclopedia provides a specific article for each chapter.

I'm happy to provide links. Perhaps it's just me, but I cannot find "specific articles dedicated to the single chapters of the Book of Deuteronomy." Is it possible to provide specific titles of the articles to which to be linked? -- Dauster (talk) 15:47, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

It is relevant not no have an excessive lenght of the main article as well as to develop the ones dedicated to the specific chapters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.223.69.88 (talk) 19:10, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Deuteronomy 19 is a Bible chapter, not a parashah

edit

There is no justification for Deuteronomy 19, which is also part of the Christian Bible, automatically linking to a rabbinical discussion of a parashah.

A majority of potential users of English Wikipedia are not practicing Jews. I will elaborate: a majority are not Jewish, and not all Jews are practicing Judaism and rabbinical studies, but all these people are potentially interested in the Bible for their own cultural and religious reasons. Therefore, when the topic is a particular Bible verse shared by Jews AND Christians and, frankly, the entire humanity, the Bible passage is of interest, not (just) the parasha & discussion in Judaism. Thank you for considering this.

The discussion can be concentrated on this page. Arminden (talk) 11:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
