Jutsu vs. Dō, the old story again.

edit

ShugiJUTSU would be a part of jōdō? That strikes me rather odd, as the jutsu in shugijutsu implies that it is a traditional martial art (koryū) whereas the dō in jōdō tells us that it is modern (gendai). Kennin (talk) 12:42, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jutsu vs. Do

edit

Kennin, I think I can say with very few chance of being wrong that your discussion about "jutsu" or "do" doesn't start from a good point.

If you really know martial arts, you probably heard about a famous author called Diane Skoss, who is considered to be quite serious when talking about Koryu.

If you look at the Koryu.com Website, you'll notice this sentence : "The terms are used interchangeably, with budo the most frequently heard. Bujutsu might possibly be used to distinquish an art with a stronger emphasis on combative technique from those that focus on life discipline (the "Way"), but in general, budo is the term used in Japan to refer to martial arts."

As a matter of fact, in Takeda Ryu Nakamura Ha, shugijutsu is considered to be part of jodo.
