I will start the review shortly.--Catlemur (talk) 14:49, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- Rephrase the first sentence in the Background. E.g. "In the early 16th century, the Kingdom of Croatia was in a personal union with the Kingdom of Hungary. Its border with the Ottoman Empire formed part of a larger defence system established by King Matthias Corvinus."
- Today's Fortress of Knin→ The Fortress of Knin in 2012.
- "that was preceded by the first Ottoman siege of Knin" - Can you make it so that the narrative follows a chronological order? What happened during this siege?
- "the beginning of the largest emigration from Knin" - the largest in the history of Croatia? Please be more specific.
- Wikilink: Venetian, ducats
- Specify that King Vladislaus II succeeded Matthias Corvinus.
- "7-year peace treaty", "5 year peace treaty" Integers from zero to nine are spelled out in words per MOS:NUMERAL.
- A single WP:ENGVAR should be used across the article. Defence is British English while honor is American English.
- Add a source at Commons to support the accuracy of File:Croatian-Hungarian union, Venetian Dalmatia, Ottoman Bosnia in 1500.svg
- "the king's courtier" - Who?
- "Knin was under constant Ottoman assaults and that entire Croatia would be lost if the city fell" → "Knin was continuously targeted by Ottoman assaults and that entire kingdom of Croatia would be lost if the city fell"
- "received around 50,000 ducats in subsidies from the Pope" - Specify who was the Pope at that time.
- "who probably used the negotiations to gain time." → "whom he suspected of using the negotiations to gain time."
- Add an ISBN or and OCLC for Šabanović, Hazim (1959) and a doi or issn for Gunjača, Stjepan (1960). The former title also needs to be translated into English.
- Thank you for the review. I think I addressed all of this in the last edit. Regarding the emigration part, Gunjača says that "we can conclude that in a series of Turkish attacks by that time, the population from the Knin area mostly moved around 1493". I changed it to "a large wave of emigration". The map already has sources, under the "References" section. [1] I also dropped Šabanović as a source, I think it's enough to say that the Banate of Srebrenik was one of the defensive provinces from the system established by Matthias Corvinus. - "after a large number of imprisoned Ottoman soldiers managed to free themselves" - How did they free themselves and from where?
- "gathering an army to help Knin and break the siege"→" gathering an army to relieve Knin"
- Since Ghazi is written in italics, you should either remove the italics or write all Turkish terms in italics for consistency.
- "He conveyed that the sultan desires peace with Venice."→" He conveyed that the sultan desired peace with Venice."
- "who had to break the siege and withdrew with his forces on 18 June"-They were a part of his forces weren't they? So the "with his forces" part is redundant.
- "Karlović revoked Vojković's seat, the town of Klokoč" - Was he deprived of his estates in Klokoč? The sentence is unclear.
- Capitalize to Sava River.
- "and participated as mercenaries in the Ottoman armies." → "and were recruited into the Ottoman armies as mercenaries."
- "Ottomans, or Venice." - This is ambiguous, do you mean that they also occasionally targeted Venice?
- who guaranteed→who pledged
- Organization is American English
- "While no more cities and forts were lost in the rest of the year,"→"While those forces enabled the Croatians to hold their ground,"
- "The first ended with 24 captured Ottoman soldiers"→" The first ended with the capture of 24 Ottoman soldiers"
- "where local Christian troops were gathered by Nikola Bidojević." → had been gathered
LEDE
- "launched a major offensive on southern parts of Croatia"→ launched a major offensive on southern Croatia
- "Due to frequent confrontations and raids of its surroundings" - Remove confrontations
- the commander of Knin's defence, had only a small garrison at his disposal→ the commander of Knin's garrison, only had a small force at his disposal
- to help the besieged Knin→ to help the besieged fortress
- Do we have any figures about the casualties of the siege?
- Add Category:1522 in EuropeCatlemur (talk) 18:56, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- I did not find any figures for casualties. There are no details on the Ottoman takeover of Bužim, except that there was a mutiny in Bužim where the prisoners were held. Lopašić, p. 150 mentions "external Ottoman help", but Klaić pp. 379–380 doesn't. The part about Venice refers to them fighting on the side of Venice, I clarified that. The rest is done.
