Fair use rationale for Image:SierraTradingPost logo.gif

edit

Image:SierraTradingPost logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Religious background?

edit

I came to the site to research the religious history of this company, which was quite prominent (presumably until the TJX acquisition); it seems like this is a very important part of their story, and should have some representation here. I'm not sure where to find a record of this -- the current version has been toned back from being specifically religious, and is a subtle link from their "about us" page (and this is a quote--you can see that these have been changed to be more palateable, but without fixing the grammar!): "We Believe"

Every day, in all that we do, we vow:

We Believe our customers must be given the best possible service.
We Believe we must keep our operating costs as low as possible to keep your savings as high as possible.
We Believe that we must treat others as we would want to be treated ourselves." (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/we-believe/)

But it used to be a much more prominent “We Believe” tab on the bottom-right of their homepage (and I think they had a biblical passage from John in the checkout). That tab listed their mission statement as follows: "Sierra Trading Post wants to be your first choice for outdoor clothing and equipment. In order to be the best, we follow three simple “We Believe” statements. 1. That our customers must be given the best possible service. 2. That we must keep our operating costs as low as possible- to keep your savings as high as possible. 3. That our business ethics must be consistent with the faith of the owners in Jesus Christ and His teachings.

We invite you to write our founder and president, Keith Richardson, if what we do does not match what we believe... We Will Make It Right!"

I don't know more than that, so I can't really fill in a more encyclopedic history of this, but hopefully somebody can. The company itself is providing a timeline that is far from satisfying: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/our-story/ Kvcad (talk) 00:27, 30 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

– We have officially changed our name from Sierra Trading Post to Sierra. You'll see that the website is now http://www.sierra.com and no longer http://www.sierratradingpost.com, which redirects to http://www.sierra.com Dgarsh (talk) 15:53, 23 January 2019 (UTC)--Relisted. –Ammarpad (talk) 16:18, 30 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sierra Trading PostSierra (retailer) – As previously discussed, the outdoor retailer Sierra Trading Post has officially changed their name to Sierra. The website URL has changed from www.sierratradingpost.com to www.sierra.com and the company is in the process of updating store signage for their retail locations. Understandably, Sierra is a popular name, so could the name be changed to Sierra (Retailer) as proposed by another user in the group. It's clearly stated in the first line of the article that Sierra (formerly Sierra Trading Post) is the retailer, so it would be great if the title of the article can change to remove "Trading Post" and any confusion. Sierra (Retailer) seems to be the best option available. Thank you. Dgarsh (talk) 17:54, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
