That's a History of usage, not etymology
editNothing under "Etymology" defines it, explains the origin, explains the connection to the Greek letter Σ for sigma nor how it has evolved. You know, etymology. editThe originator of this was Vox Day (Theodore Beale), who used it on the Alpha Game site (now offline). Beale posted this on his own blog starting in January 2010.
Internet archive may be able to corroborate the Alpha Game references.
