Reliable sources
edit@Reev132 - Hey, just wanna let you know that a lot of the sources you used to create this draft are not reliable and cannot be used on Wikipedia. Basically, sources that are from user-generated websites, like worldgurdwaras.com are not considered eligible for usage on Wikipedia. It's best to use scholarly/literary/news sources instead from reliable publishers. Please refer to WP:RS and WP:UGC. Letting you know this so this article has a better chance of being accepted and published on Wikipedia. You can perform a search on sites like Google Scholar or Google Books to find some more suitable sources. You can also search for news articles from reputable news outlets. - I understand, thanks for the information. Reev132 (talk) 04:09, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- @ThethPunjabi Hey, I don't think this article has any chance of being published. I have done quite a lot of searching throughout the Internet, but there doesn't seem to be any reliable sources on the Internet about the history of Sikhism in South Africa. Reev132 (talk) 23:50, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Reev132 Don't worry, I'll try working on it sometime soon and see if I can salvage it. ThethPunjabi (talk) 02:16, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Reev132 I expanded the article, found citations, and submitted the article. ThethPunjabi (talk) 00:43, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- @ThethPunjabi Oh wow, you're really great at this. I don't know how I can thank you. I'm merely new to Wikipedia so I don't really have much knowledge, but I look forward to learning more as I spend more time here. 01:25. 7 August 2023 (UTC) Reev132 (talk) 01:27, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Reev132 Hey, no worries. You have made a great start so far! Happy editing, ThethPunjabi (talk) 01:29, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- I noticed all the Sikhism in [country] have the phrase "Sikhism in [country]" in the country's native language. I want to add it to this, but since South Africa has so many government-recognized languages, it would pose as a challenge. Do you guys think it would be a good idea? Reev132 (talk) 05:00, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Reev132 Yes, I think just keeping the English name only would suffice. SA has too many official languages to include them all. ThethPunjabi (talk) 21:04, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Veracity of statements made in the article
editHello @Greenman, thank you for leaving a comment on the draft. The fast-growing claim is sourced from this statement in the Sikh Press Association source: "The South African Sikh community is relatively small but is growing." Perhaps on second-thought, the word "fast" can be removed from the draft since the source does not use this word explicitly. As for the statement about many Sikhs fleeing the country, I had misinterpreted a line in the article so I will remove the claim from the draft. ThethPunjabi (talk) 16:40, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
