First flight
editAccording to this it flew on 7 August 1931 not November 19, 1931. Can anyone confirm either of these dates? Drutt (talk) 19:49, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- 19 November was the first passenger carrying service not the first flight. MilborneOne (talk) 16:55, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Sesquiplane?
editIt's parasol, not sesquiplane, there's only one wing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.163.73.46 (talk) 18:06, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Good catch. I've just removed the claims that it was a sesquiplane. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 02:08, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- The sesquiplane part was added in 2015 by The PIPE, but is unsourced. - BilCat (talk) 05:53, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
WHOOPS...the S-40 has quite a complex "lifting surface" arrangement for an amphibian flying boat...my sincere apologies! The PIPE (talk) 11:32, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- No problem. I pinged you because you might have had a source that it was a sesquiplane. It was possible that the lower horizontal strut was actually an aerodynamic surface, and so would be a second wing. However, I was unable to find anything in my books, nor in a quick G-search. Thanks for responding. - BilCat (talk) 16:18, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
