Tower forage silo hazards

edit

Please note that the existing section "Tower forage silo hazards" does not contain any reference to nitrogen oxides as an asphyxiation hazard. The Wikipedia article on "Silage" does contain the material on nitrogen oxides.

I believe that the hazard due to nitogen oxides is if anything more dangerous than the methane mentioned in the section referenced above, due to the tendency of the nitrogen oxides to accumulate in the silo.

If the material on agricultural silos is moved off to another location, the section on hazards should be moved, as well as edited to show the discussion on nitrogen oxides. Dc halstead (talk) 01:05, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Silos

edit

Can anyone explain why some of the tower silos have basically flat tops and some rounded dome tops..50.139.111.237 (talk) 04:17, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Chuck HodgesReply

Storage of grain

edit

From the lead section: "Silos are used in agriculture to store fermented feed known as silage, not to be confused with a grain bin, which is used to store grains." Okay, so silos don't store grain. However, the next sentence begins "Silos are commonly used for bulk storage of grain..." Can anyone help elucidate? HerrWaus (talk) 16:22, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Citations for 'Safety'

edit

Much of the 'Safety' section does not have any citations, although the information does not seem irrelevant or dubious enough to warrant cutting the whole thing. Can someone with better knowledge of the subject add citations, or bring this to the attention of someone else who does? 61.1.53.105 (talk) 08:57, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
