Tak Hiemstra (talk) 09:00, 28 October 2018 (UTC)== Navy base ==
The statue of the navy diver at the end of the pier in front of Bertha's Restaurant reads "Semper in Excreta", which, if translated to English, means "Always in the shit". A former navy diver, Rory Rose-Parks, came to visit me in Simon's Town and related the following story to me: As the higher officers walked past, they didn't understand the stresses and strains which the navy divers were going through, resulting in the divers being always in trouble.
Need a History section for this long established town
editThis article is good, but only a brief reference in the lead mentions it was a British naval stopping place before South Africa became independent. Information in the lead needs text in the article to support it. --Prairieplant (talk) 18:29, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
History/ Background
editAs a former resident of Simonstown, I am surprised that no mention is made of the forced removal of the coloured and black inhabitants in the early 1970's.14.137.85.73 (talk) 06:21, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
