Translating the Title
editIMHO, "Sin Verguenza" can be translated as "Shameless" or idiomatically as "Shameless Women." I'm going with the former as that is more literal and thus safer under NPOV. Telemundo's press materials may give an official translation. They're using "Four Lives For Love" in international syndication. Yakuman 22:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually, Telemundo's press release does say the English title is No Shame. So do the closed-captioned subtitles. 05:10, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Telemundo's press release only gives a translation of what sin vergüenza means in english, between parenthases at that, it does not say anywhere it is the official title. sin means without and vergüenza can mean embarrassment, shyness, or in this case shame, therefore it translates to without shame in an exact translation, however shameless is the more pervasive english term and is nearly identical. Furthermore sin vergüenza is usually a noun in spanish i.e. George is a shameless [person]. But saying George is a No Shame, doesn't quite cut it. The subtitles are also not an official NBC title they are whatever the Closed Captioning company decided in most cases. In fact titles are rarely translated. I've seen subtitles on telenovelas before and they usually say the title (In Spanish) and then give the english equivalent in parentheses. But no doubt the title translated is without shame/shamless but NOT No Shame. Another common word in spanish is sin vergüenzas i.e. ¿qué están haciéndo uds. sin vergüenzas? What are you shamlesses doing? A nearly perfect translation as far as actual use is unscrupulous also sin vergüenza can mean, They Don't Have Shame, in a very they do what they want and dont care what people think or what taboos they break kinda way. The press release and the CC1 English subtitles say "No Shame." I agree about the translation, but, alas, Telemundo does not. "Material added to articles must be directly and explicitly supported by the cited sources." WP:A Yakuman (数え役満) 03:59, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
