editI put back the paragraph about political censorship and am very confused about why it was taken out. The way that sina.com interacts with the PRC government in handling political content is very relevant to the article. Roadrunner 09:04, 22 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- It may be impolitic for Hong Kong students to leave it in.
- Scott McNay 05:34, 2004 Feb 23 (UTC)
- It occurs to me that the word "censorship" could be considered NPOV. Might try rewriting para with milder terminology. Scott McNay 07:43, 2004 Feb 23 (UTC)
Images
editLooks like someone's getting a picture-happy. The yellow ones are definitely excessive, as I don't see that they add anything of substance. I'd suggest tossing all except the Sina logo at the top. Scott McNay 07:43, 2004 Feb 23 (UTC)
- Agree. Note that there is no copyright info on most of those images; if anyone thinks they should stay, please add information to the image pages. See Wikipedia:Images for details of Wikipedia image use policies and practices. -- Infrogmation 12:48, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Cleanup
editReferences (embedded ones anyway) should be standardized to inline format, should they not. And someone, please, fix the grammar in this article. -Pandacomics 17:09, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Advert Tag
editI added an advert tag to this page. Although I think Sina is clearly a notable subject for a WP page, much of the content of the article, particularly beginning with the 'Management' section reads more like marketing or PR copy than an encyclopedia entry. Cuffeparade (talk) 21:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Suppression of access in Germany ?
editSee this. It says that sina.com is blocked in Germany. If a German reads this, can he please verify ? Arronax50 (talk) 01:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Sina does have a portion of their website dedicated to people living in the Republic of China, shouldn't this be added?--24.171.0.229 (talk) 18:07, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
SINA Disambiguation
editThe term SINA should not be immediately redirected to this page since SINA is also an acronym for the Society for Indecency to Naked Animals, an elaborate hoax cooked up by Alan Abel. If a disambiguation page could be made, instead of an immediate redirect, it would be great. Helixer (talk) 22:55, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Chinese RSS Channels
editThere are a lots of chinese news sources, but those doesn't put their rss channels icon to the main page. Xinhua - yes, Business China - Business - yes, Economic Observer: Economic - yes, People's Daily Online: Business - yes, CNTV: World - yes.
The Shanghai RSS channel is not xml format. The other chinese sources should put an RSS icon, to thier Main page. Strange that the Sina english (and Global Times) don't have RSS channel, one of the best chinese news web page they write.

Requested move 1
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
{{Requested move/dated|Sina}}
Sina.com → Sina – Article is clearly about the corporation and company as a whole, as opposed to just the one website (e.g., see {{Infobox company}} in article). Article should probably have been moved / renamed after User:ASDFGHs rework in September 2011. Would also support move to Sina Corporation. (Amended "Move to" from SINA to Sina per MOS:TM, and Sina → Sina (disambiguation)) Nikthestoned 08:06, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Oppose per MOS:TM and MOS:ALLCAPS.The article should either remain at its current location or be considered for move to Sina or Sina Corp.--Labattblueboy (talk) 13:09, 23 August 2012 (UTC)- I'm good with either of those also, it's just the website-centric name with which I disagree. Nikthestoned 14:32, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose MOS:TM. It is not a acronym, and the logo uses all-lowercase not all-uppercase. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 04:20, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
after amended RM
- Comment I've added "Sina → Sina (disambiguation)" into your proposal as that is implicit but should have been stated. I'm not totally convinced that Sina.com is really more notable/natural than the name Kant gave to China, Sina District, Sina and the Eel, Sina-1 satellite, the various Kurdish, Iranian and Cambodian people called Sina. - Thanks In ictu oculi Nikthestoned 13:34, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- But bad news, sorry have to oppose Sina, and support Sina Corporation or Sina Corp. The article on Japanese Shina (word) looks to contain a lot of post-Nanjing odor about the name "Sina", but evidently it's just the old Buddhist name, and the Latin plural Sinae ("the Sinas", "the lands of Cina") also derives from similar to Sanskrit. Given that Sina can't be moved to Sina (disambiguation), even if the Persian names are hived off. Perhaps the Japanese Shina (word) article needs renaming Sina (country) and the Japanese section reduced to 2nd section. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:52, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- Literally the only thing I care about here is dropping the ".com", so either of those suggestions (Sina Corporation or Sina Corp) have my full Support Nikthestoned 14:12, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

- Procedural close the change in the proposal is quite large, instead of amending, the old RM should have been closed and a new one opened. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 09:12, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- ...it would be reasonable for Nikthestoned to withdraw and resubmit a new one → Sina Corp which now has 3x support. It will make it clearer/easier for an admin when it comes to closing. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:55, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- Withdrawn per above... (Not sure how to close!) Nikthestoned 09:54, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

To whom it may concern. The merge to Sina Corp involved removing a history of two redirects from target page of Sina Corp. Sina Corp originally redirected to SINA Corporation which until August 2011 was an article in its own right. According to its edit history the content of "SINA Corporation" was merged into this article in September 2011 . -- PBS (talk) 17:02, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Content dispute
editI would like to add the text “Sina does not produce original news articles, due to restrictions on independent media in China they are only allowed to reprint stories (sometimes with minor modifications) from Chinese state owned media.” the source says "Independent commercial news portals or news sites such as Sina or Tencent do not have the autonomy to produce original news content, and instead can only reprint news articles from state-run news outlets.”@CaradhrasAiguo: has asserted that "this is a blatant distortion of the source”[1] and is gonna have to explain what they mean by that, if anything the issue is that they’re too similar.
