@Deanna Coakley: My library does not have "The Columbia Reader" by Farnsworth-Alvear, and unfortunately Google Books only has some pages. If you have a copy available to you, from which pages of that book have you extracted information? Reference sources for draft sinfonia latina

edit

Hello and good afternoon, 78.26

edit
This is a follow up to a previous post on this talk page regarding verifiable reference sources for the Sinfonia Latina Draft article.

Through the library of congress in Washington DC I was refered to "BNC" Biblioteca Nancional of Bogata, Colombia I have had email communication with Camilio Paez Coordinator or the library. I requested several articles in The El Heraldo and Diaro Del Caribe He confirmed the library has all I requested and more TV print and radio coverage of the event. In his response he also stated the Library attempted to provide the information to Wikipedia themselves and were blocked. e Thus far I am unable to recieve a loan from them.

Do you have means to accomplish this ?

Did this event recur?

edit

What you have written suggests that Sinfonia Latina happened more than once on an ongoing basis. If this is the case, it would provide much-needed context as to the event's importance. Also, if any musical compositions performed at the event became well known as a result of the festival, was it recorded, or if it launched careers or inspired other events, that would bolster the significance of Sinfonia Latina. The problem with your draft is that it doesn't give any impression beyond the momentary event. What did it create in the way of a legacy?--Quisqualis (talk)

@Quisqualis: no, it was a concert that was performed twice in 1976, and that's it. I wouldn't describe it as a festival, it's now more a foundation providing musical education to underprivileged children in Colombia. As far as I know, the only career it launched was that of Dieppa himself. Richard3120 (talk) 16:59, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Quisqualis:The festival was scheduled for March of 2020 yet due to Covid has been pushed back to the spring of 2021. It is planned to be an annual festival with a focus classical music performance ,musical education, and social work, in continuance of the original festival. The event was named after the composition Sinfonia Latina which recieved national press and television coverage, The recording and Television coverage are being redone in California by Noticero Suramericana as that information becomes available for referencing. The members of the Mancinis band and Pacho Galans orchestra all went on to create their own groups and performing with groups such as Santana ,Joe Arroyo and fruko . Alberto Barros created his own group Niche in a similar genre the drummer a ten year old went on to play with Dacaretts blues band and Leonardo Borrero became bass player in Santanas touring ensemble. Composer Einar Escaff said The event created new pathways for future musicians in the golden years of rock in Barranquilla because Rock pop music in Spanish was never done before , not accepted in the city at the time. The legacy created by the event is the poetry in Spanish, social awareness, and the fusion of salsa, rock, jazz into a classical format and the completion of the theater. Just to name a fewDeanna Coakley (talk) 05:35, 19 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
