Requested move 24 December 2018
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: no consensus to move the page to the proposed title at this time, per the discussion below; the proposer has been blocked indefinitely, and also participated as sock in this discussion. Independently, the point made by JaventheAlderick is well-taken, but its accuracy is unclear and redirects handle the situation currently. Dekimasuよ! 22:21, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 → Changi Airport Terminal 4 – sync with other pages like Changi Airport Terminal 3 & Changi Airport Terminal 5 ‑‑V.S.(C)(T) 15:20, 24 December 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 16:33, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Those other pages are not pages, per se. They are both redirects to Singapore Changi Airport. As redirects, they do not establish a precedent that must or should be followed with regard to this article. You'll need some other, better reason to justify this move. General Ization Talk 15:28, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Changi Airport Terminal 3 is a page by itself, as for Changi Airport Terminal 5, it is a matter of time on when the article will be created & the redirect to Singapore Changi Airport will be removed.
- As mentioned on my talk page:On an international scale, yes, "Changi Airport" is referred to as "Singapore Changi Airport". However when the terminals of the airport are mentioned, the term "Singapore" is dropped and "Terminal X" is added (WP:POVNAME)
- Also, another reason to move the page is as per WP:CONSISTENCY ‑‑V.S.(C)(T) 15:33, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies re: Terminal 3, I didn't see that it was an actual article. However, do you have multiple reliable sources to support your contention that "when the terminals of the airport are mentioned, the term 'Singapore' is dropped and 'Terminal X' is added"? [4]- None of these support the contention that the terminal is conventionally referred to as "Changi Airport Terminal 4". The articles refer to "Changi Airport's Terminal 4" (i.e., Terminal 4 at Changi Airport, which is of course how they would refer to it, and one of them consistently refers to it as "T4"), but they don't support the contention that that is the conventional name. In addition, two of the sources are local to Singapore, so don't support how it is referred to internationally. For an international audience, when the airport is named Singapore Changi Airport, the terminals of that airport should follow suit. General Ization Talk 15:53, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- In case you mis-read what I mentioned, I said that "Changi Airport" is referred to as "Singapore Changi Airport" internationally. However, it is more common to say Changi Airport Terminal 3 than Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 (WP:POVNAME). In addition, why isn't "Zurich Airport" referred to as "Switzerland Zurich Airport"? I believe the addition of place names is to differentiate places with similar names like "York County, Pennsylvania" & "York County, Maine" or if a the place name is translated from another language such as Shanghai having "Shanghai Pudong International Airport" & "Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport". Also, adhering to WP:CONSISTENCY), all the terminals of the airport should have a "common naming term". ‑‑V.S.(C)(T) 16:08, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- "More common" for whom? This is an encyclopedia, and the titles of our articles generally use the full names of places and facilities, whether or not they are commonly shortened in everyday conversation. Here in Columbus, Ohio, we still refer to the airport as Port Columbus, "Glenn Airport" or "the airport", but none of those are its name, nor the title of its article here. General Ization Talk 16:17, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Also, I'm not sure what relevance WP:POVNAME has to this conversation. There is nothing non-neutral about referring to something by its full name. 16:20, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Please note that the airport authority (Changi Airport Group) itself refers to the airport in English materials as Singapore Changi Airport. See e.g., [5]. This is not a Wikipedia construct. General Ization Talk 16:28, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

- As seen from the page
- On May 25, 2016, the Ohio General Assembly passed a bill to rename the airport from Port Columbus International Airport to its current name.
- It means that the airport is officially renamed. Also, there is a redirect Port Columbus International redirecting to the page. Like how Changi Airport redirects to Singapore Changi Airport. My question is why "Zurich Airport" instead of "Switzerland Zurich Airport". Adding place names to articles is to differentiate the article's content from other places with similar names. Is there any other Changi Airport's in the world? In addition, my point is not about "Changi Airport" or "Singapore Changi Airport", rather, it is about "Changi Airport Terminal 4" or "Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4"> From the website you provided, "Changi Airport" is mentioned on a more regular basis than "Singapore Changi Airport". My point is that make the pages consistent, if this page cannot be renamed to Changi Airport Terminal 4, should the other terminals be renamed to "Singapore Changi Airport Terminal X" instead (WP:CONSISTENCY)? ‑‑V.S.(C)(T) 16:38, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- As seen from the page
- In summary, my point is about WP:CONSISTENCY, not about what is common or not. I nominated this page to be renamed as it is a 2vs1 competition on the naming convention. (T3 & T5 vs T4) ‑‑V.S.(C)(T) 16:39, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- As I demonstrated above, the airport authority itself refers to the airport first by its formal name, then by an abbreviated name in subsequent mentions. That does not change the official name of the airport in English to its abbreviated form, nor change the name we should use to refer to it, nor its terminals. WP:CONSISTENCY can just as readily be applied to argue that the names of all of the articles concerning terminals at SIN should be consistent with the name of the airport, and therefore that the other articles should change, not this one. (The redirects can handle navigation for those who choose to use the abbreviated names.) General Ization Talk 16:44, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

- Support, per WP:COMMONNAME. People are far more likely to search for "Changi Airport Terminal 4" than with "Singapore" in front. However, it seems weird that articles for Changi Airport Terminal 1 and Changi Airport Terminal 2 don't exist, but articles for Terminals 3 and 4 do. If WP:CONSISTENCY is required, then articles for those two terminals should be created. JaventheAldericky (talk) 17:01, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Support, agree with Venomous SNiper and JaventheAldericky. Common names should be adopted, if necessary, official name should be redirect to the common name. ‑S.P.B.(Contri.)(Oink!) 09:39, 6 January 2019 (UTC)Blocked sock of the original proposer. Dekimasuよ! 22:11, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
