Requested move 10 May 2022
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved to List of ranas of Mewar. This is a difficult discussion to parse, but there seems to be consensus that this page should be a list and that non-list content should be merged to Udaipur State. There's an argument that "list of rulers of Mewar" would change the list's scope, and I don't see consensus to do that here: feel free to start a separate discussion on whether to include non-rana rulers as well. It's also been suggested that we merge the whole list to Udaipur State; again, there's no consensus to do that at the moment, but a separate proposal may be made at any time through the WP:PAM process. Finally, MOS:JOBTITLES calls for a lowercase 'r' in "rana", as noted by BarrelProof. Putting all this together, we have a rough consensus for "List of ranas of Mewar", although further discussions may be warranted. Sisodias of Mewar → List of Ranas of Mewar – Currently, this page consists of :
- History
- Conflicts with the Mughals
- Under British Raj
- Post-Independence
- List of Maharanas
The Udaipur State page also consists of the same structure but also includes information about the Guhila dynasty. So this page must be made an exclusive page for the list, hence must be Renamed and all the other information in this page will be Merged the Udaipur State. >>> Extorc.talk 06:09, 10 May 2022 (UTC)— Relisting. - If this request is supported, I would next also request to move Udaipur State to Kingdom of Mewar >>> Extorc.talk 07:15, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
- Lowercase "ranas" if supported per MOS:JOBTITLES, List of presidents of the United States, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BarrelProof (talk • contribs)
- Support move, but name should be title neutral because different rulers adopted different titles, Rana, Maharana, Rawal, Maharawal and many more other titles, in my opinion it should be moved to Rulers of Mewar, not the list of rulers because the existing article has more than the list, it has significant history part too. Sajaypal007 (talk) 08:13, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- I am saying that this page must only contain the list of rulers of the Sisodia Dynasty, the rulers who only used Rana/Maharana as title. So the distinction between Rawal and Rana is gone. Moreover the title of Maharana is to Rana just like Maharaja is to Raja but still we call the page, so List of ranas of Mewar should be okay? @Sajaypal007 >>> Extorc.talk 15:18, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- Why keep separate page just for the list of rulers, there is hardly any separate ruler's list, merge it with Udaipur State then. Sajaypal007 (talk) 06:56, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
- Isnt it a convention to keep a separate page for the list of rulers of major Kingdoms/Empires. We do have Mughal Emperors and List of rulers of the Delhi Sultanate >>> Extorc.talk 08:24, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- It will be a merge and rename. Merging all the contents with the Udaipur State and renaming the table to the proposed name. >>> Extorc.talk 08:26, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose the move. Rana are the Sisodia rulers but not all Sisodia are rulers, are they? The list of of Ranas can be added to the Sisodia page, and not the other way round. Thanks.Jonathansammy (talk) 15:37, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- Lets stick to what this page is right now. This page is about the Ranas of Mewar. Hardly talks about "Sisodias" as a clan or a group of people. It starts with Hammir and ends with Bhupal, the first and last Ranas.
The page Udaipur State is also the same thing but also has the Guhila Dynasty information. So this and Udaipur state pages have a lot in common hence one must be merged into another. But the list of rulers must be maintained because the dynasty is quite notable. The list of of Ranas can be added to the Sisodia page
, I dont understand. I am asking for this page to be turned into a list of rulers and everything else be merged with Udaipur State which already is half same thing. >>> Extorc.talk 16:39, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

- Support the conversion of page into a list of rulers and merge with Udaipur because the information offered by the articles in question are largely same. Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 10:32, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- Support per above. LearnIndology (talk) 11:03, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
