edit@Ss112: May I ask why you reverted my edit and asked me to add the access date, then do the exact same edit with the correct access date when you could've just corrected my error in not updating the access dates? FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 17:10, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- @FanofMusic: Because then you wouldn't have gotten the message and would still not think it's important. I don't presume that editors would check the edit history of a page afterwards and then go "somebody updated the accessdate, I guess I should do that from now on." It's important because, especially for recent songs, it shows what date that peak was achieved. It helps verify correct chart positions, as URLs and links can often change and thus, another editor can help trace around what date a peak was achieved if the link becomes dead and fix it. Without it, say, an accessdate that only shows when the chart position was first added to the page, somebody would have to look through months of chart archive data for a chart that only goes by weeks (and some do). - Thank you for your response. That makes perfect sense. When I had updated it, I had just spaced that I should've updated the access date as well. FanofMusic (Talk to Me!) 17:16, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
