Boarding School
editthere used to be a fantastically large ancient girls boarding school here. the catholic church aparently sold the land and it was demolished and replaced with housing. went there with my mother, who was a student there in the early 60s. She was rather bothered by its abscence. we did manage to find one of the nuns who worked there and was still in the area, who showed us old photos and drawings. there should probably be something on this, huge ancient peices of gothic architecture which thousands of little girls lived in over the centuries are fairly significant. --Fruity Bix 15:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Can you possibly get something together and add it to the article? That'd be kinda cool ... - Ali-oops✍ 16:04, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- A few slightly useful snippets here [1] might lead someone further. ww2censor 19:20, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Fingal County
editI deleted a reference to Skerries being in "County Fingal". No such place exists. Skerries is within the administrative area of Fingal County Council but is very much part of County Dublin - Laois 23/08/06
- This has been discussed elsewhere (though cannot find it quickly) but it does exist, so I have reverted your edit. I thought the way you did but you need to study the situation better. Suggest you read this page. ww2censor 14:32, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Maybe, but ask any resident of Skerries or any other town, and they will always say they live in Co. Dublin. I have changed it to reflect this. - Laois 24/08/06
- You are correct about the thinking but this is an encyclopaedia and it should reflect the facts which is that Skerries is in Fingal. I too agree with you that If I lived there I would still feel I was in county Dublin. Your rewrite sounds about right to me. Cheers & thanks. ww2censor 15:00, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Please note that there is no such place as County Fingal. The previous assertion by Laois is correct in that "Skerries is within the administrative area of Fingal County Council". Suggested text to replace first line of article: "Skerries (Na Sceirí in Irish) is a seaside town on the north-east coast of County Dublin, Ireland, and is within the administrative boundary of Fingal County Council. The name comes from..." Regards, Hill Billy
Harford's House
editI changed the ridiculous 'point of reference' 'Harford's house' to something a bit more relevant to those who are not locals, I think the 13th century Baldungan castle next door to the late 20th century Harford domicile is a little more apt
Red Island
editI think Red Island is a tied island rather than a tombolo. I'm not that familiar with Skerries, though, so maybe a local can confirm? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BrianBoru2011 (talk • contribs) 22:31, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Church Island <-> St. Patricks Island?
editAre they the same?... At the moment, it's not clear from the text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.38.100.131 (talk) 06:14, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
The islands: who owns them?
editDiscovering this on Google is proving elusive, with the exception of Rockabill, which is apparently owned by the Commissioners of Irish Lights. Anybody know who owns each of the others? 79.97.154.238 (talk) 22:41, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- Just from Google - Shenick Island. Hope this helps. RashersTierney (talk) 03:04, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Good find. "Since 1987 it [Shenick] is a wildlife reserve run by the Fingal branch of the Irish Wildbird Conservancy Council." It doesn't say they actually bought it, but rather that they run a wildlife reserve on it. Does anybody know if they own it, or do they merely run a wildlife reserve with the permission of somebody else who owns it? 79.97.154.238 (talk) 17:42, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Misleading
editIf this is within Co. Fingal, the title Skerries, Dublin is misleading, whatever the population thinks, says or defend. It doesn't belong to Dublin (city, county) in any way, I guess. Different would be if it's in the boundary limit. It should be titled Skerries, Fingal or could be Skerries, Ireland. --※ Sobreira ◣◥ (parlez) 09:11, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
Rivers and mills
editSurely at least the central stream should be mentioned, and more on the mills complex and windmill hill? 80.233.50.253 (talk) 17:08, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
